Sarah Ash: 1st team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

Sarah AshDenison women's soccer senior Sarah Ash was named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team for the second straight year. Ash received first team honors which advances her to the national ballot with hopes of being awarded Academic All-American accolades.

Ash, a 2007 third team academic all-district, was an NSCAA/adidas First Team All-American in 2007. Last season the senior was also Ohio Player of the Year, North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a first team all-conference selection. Her sophomore and freshman seasons she earned second team all-NCAC honors.

Ash leads the 12th-ranked Big Red in assists with eight and is second on the squad in points (22). She also helped Denison clinch their seventh outright conference regular season title and the top seed in the NCAC Tournament. During her time at Denison, Ash has accumulated 24 goals and 21 assists in 85 career matches. The senior is a double major in spanish and psychology and currently carries a 3.73 GPA. She is also a member of Psi Chi, the Psychology Honorary Society.

The Big Red (14-2-1) is currently riding a 10-game winning streak and will host Wooster to close out the regular season. Match time is slated for 1 p.m. and will be broadcasted on the Denison Sports Network powered by TEAMLINE.

Created in 1952 by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Teams Program is a premier, nationwide college scholar-athlete awards program. It recognizes 816 outstanding student-athletes annually in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
