#12 Denison Blanks Kenyon
Denison jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back, dropping the Ladies of Kenyon College 3-0.
The Big Red got on the board in the game’s 13th minute as junior Sarah Ash sped through the Kenyon defense and dropped a pass to a trailing Jessie Birdwhistell for the score.
Eleven minutes later, freshman Meg Polite headed in a corner kick in a scramble in front of the net to give the Big Red a two goal lead that would hold through the half.
Denison would hop on the board early in the second half as well as sophomore Anna Rusch made a move to lose the Kenyon defender and nail a deep goal from outside the box, pushing the final spread to 3-0.
Denison out shot Kenyon 25-7. Freshman Jen Clemmer led the offensive attack with eight shots, four on goal. Liz Gillette (right) recorded a pair of saves in goal, her fourth shutout of the year while Rosie Davis stopped eight for the Ladies.
The Big Red will be back in action Saturday as they travel to Columbus for a 7 p.m. with Ohio Dominican.
