Big Red Fall to Carnegie Mellon

Carnegie Mellon junior Sarah DeWath’s score with just under a minute left in the first half proved to be all that was needed as the Tartan’s downed the seventh-ranked Big Red women’s soccer team 1-0.

Dewath's score came off an Amanda Rose corner kick, which Dewath headed in for the only goal of the game.

The Big Red did not go quietly in the second half, as they had opportunities on six corner kicks in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net.

Senior Kim Cochran and junior Sarah Ash led the Big Red with two shots a piece.

Big Red keeper Liz Gillette had four saves on the game as Spartan goalie Anya Rosen accounted for three.

The Big Red fall to 7-2 on the year and will open conference play next Saturday, September 29th when they travel to Oberlin College for a game at 12:00 pm.
