Jenn ClemmerThe 9th ranked Denison Big Red won their fifth straight contest on Saturday afternoon following a 2-0 road win at Mount Union College.

The Big Red controlled the match from start to finish as they outshot the Purple Raiders 16-2 and out numbered them in corner kicks, 8-1.  The match was scoreless until the 34th minute when freshman Jenn Clemmer (right) scored her fourth goal of the season.

Less than four minutes later another freshman, Maggie Hoskin, would net her fourth goal of the young season, giving Denison a 2-0 lead and the eventual victory.

Hoskin led Denison in shots attempted with four. Anna Rusch added three shots while Sarah Ash, Kim Cochran and Clemmer all attempted two shots.  Senior goalkeeper Liz Gillette notched two saves in her 90 minutes of play.  Mount Union keeper Kaitlyn Mallernee was kept busy as she stopped seven would-be Denison goals.

Denison's record moves to 6-1 overall, while Mount Union drops to 2-4.  The Big Red will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 18 when they host Otterbein College at 7 p.m.  The match was originally scheduled to be played at Otterbein but due to poor field conditions in Westerville, the match was moved to Granville.
