#10 Big Red Shut Out #13 Washington & Lee

Jennifer ClemmerDenison freshman Jennifer Clemmer (right) broke a scoreless tie 2:47 into the second half as the 10th ranked Big Red defeated #13 Washington & Lee, 1-0 on Saturday in Lexington, Va.

Denison, who improves to 3-1 overall with the victory, outshot the General 17-12 and out-cornered W&L 6-5, eventually earning the one-goal victory.

In just her fourth career collegiate start, Clemmer led Denison with six shots before netting her first career goal just after halftime.  Senior goalkeeper Liz Gillette earned the shutout with her six-save performance in 90 minutes of action.  Washington & Lee's Kiki Moreo also posted six saves.

The Generals, who posted a 19-1-3 record in 2006, fall to 0-1 this season.  Denison will take on Randolph-Macon on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. while W&L will host Sewanee at noon.
