Denison Shuts Out Anderson

Julie DeanThe 10th ranked Denison Big Red women's soccer team scored early and often, blanking the Anderson University Ravens 6-0. The Big Red out-shot the Ravens 29-0.

Sophomore Anna Rusch put Denison on the board just four minutes into the game on an assist from freshman Jennifer Clemmer. Two minutes later, she would score again, giving the Big Red a huge boost early.

Sophomore Katie Eckenhoff scored on a scramble in front of the goal, her first of the season to make it 3-0.

In the game's 27th minute, Big Red sophomore forward Julie Dean (right) continued the first half offensive barrage, scoring her first career goal and pushing the lead to 4-0.

Freshman Meg Polite netted her first career goal as well, closing out the half 5-0. Sophomore forward Maggie Hoskin scored the final goal in the game's 84th minute. The goal is her second this season.

Senior Liz Gillette and sophomore Courtney Cobb split time in goal.

Denison travels to Lexington, Va. this weekend for games with Washington & Lee (Sat.) and Randolph-Macon (Sun.).
