
Penalty Kick Lifts Kenyon over Denison
Kenyon's Amanda Drummond broke a scoreless tie in the 65th minute when she scored the match's only goal off a penalty kick, leading Kenyon College to a victory over the Denison Big Red women's soccer team on Saturday.
The Big Red controlled the offensive flow of the contest, outshooting Kenyon 17-6 but Kenyon goalkeeper Rosie Davis came up big for the Ladies. She stopped eight Denison shots en route to her sixth shutout of the season.
Denison was led offensively by Sarah Ash who took six shots in the game. Jessie Birdwhistell and Laura Kuehn both finished with three shots each.
Denison goalkeeper Liz Gillette made two saves in goal for DU. In the corner kick game Denison took 11 and Kenyon attempted just one.
Denison falls to 12-3 overall and 4-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference play. Kenyon College improves to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the NCAC. DU will host Earlham on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
