
Big Red Homecoming Victory against Allegheny
October 22, 2005: The Big Red remained unbeaten in the North Coast Athletic Conference thanks to a pair of goals within one minute of each other in the first half. Denison went on to defeat Allegheny College 2-1 on Saturday at Barclay-Thomsen Field.
The 12th ranked Big Red got on the scoreboard first when junior Anne Young scored her fourth goal of the season in the 37th minute. That was followed one minute later Tammy Hoch’s header off the foot of Kim Cochran. The goal was Hoch’s fourth of the season and her second game-winning goal of the year.
In the 62nd minute Allegheny’s Alex Duhan scored her first goal of the year off an assist by Ashley Rogerson. In all, Denison took 20 shots while the Gators attempted 10 shots. Allegheny goalkeeper Beth Van Parys had 10 saves. Liz Gillette finished with five saves in the net for the Big Red.
DU also dominated the corner kick battle, holding an 11-1 advantage. Denison moves to 12-2-1 overall and 6-0 in the NCAC with the win. Allegheny falls to 8-5-2 and 2-3-1 in conference.
The Big Red has two matches remaining on the regular season schedule. They will travel to The College of Wooster on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match with the Scots. Next Saturday they will close out the regular season with their annual clash against Ohio Wesleyan. That match will kickoff at 7 p.m.
