Denison and Ohio Dominican play to 1-1 tie

Kim CochranOctober 15, 2005: Ohio Dominican tied the contest with nine minutes left in regulation and the two teams battled through two overtime periods en route to a 1-1 tie in non-conference women’s soccer action from Barclay-Thomsen Field in Granville.

In the second half, the Panthers picked up the pace offensively, taking five of their 10 shots, four of which were on goal. Denison sophomore goalkeeper Liz Gillette saved three of those shots, but the fourth developed when Kelsey Buck got the ball ahead of the Denison defense to Jen Burgei who beat Gillette one-on-one for the tying score.

In the overtimes Denison outshot ODU, 4-2. For the match, Denison attempted 17 shots compared to 10 for the Panthers. Gillette made four saves in the net and Krissi Sparks finished with six saves for Ohio Dominican. The Big Red attempted nine corner kicks while the Panthers took only two. The tie moves Denison’s record to 10-2-2 overall while Ohio Dominican moves to 8-6-1.
