October 2, 2005: Sarah Ash put the Big Red on top just 4 minutes and 42 seconds into Sunday’s match with Wittenberg and DU made the score stand as they edged the Tigers 1-0 in a North Coast Athletic Conference women’s soccer match.

Ash’s goal was assisted by junior midfielder Tammy Hoch. The goal was her third of the season. She is now tied with senior Colleen Wirtz for the team lead.

DU attempted 14 shots on the day, eight more than Wittenberg. Sophomore goalkeeper Liz Gillette picked up the win in goal while notching three saves. Meghan O’Rourke finished with eight saves for Wittenberg who falls to 9-2 on the season.

With the win, the sixth ranked Big Red improves to 7-2-1 on the season. Today’s match was their first NCAC contest of the season.
