
Denison has solidified its place among the nation’s finest Division III soccer programs. Under the direction of Head Coach Gail Murphy, the Big Red has posted 10 straight seasons as an NSCAA/Adidas National Top-25 ranked team, made seven trips to the NCAA National Tournament and won four NCAC Conference Championships. The Big Red has also compiled an impressive 133-36-11 record.
Women’s soccer at Denison has achieved tremendous success by attracting soccer athletes of the highest caliber. In the last nine seasons the Big Red has produced 9 All-Americans, 30 All-Region players and two Academic All-Americans. Denison has dominated the NCAC All-Conference teams with 64 All-NCAC honors. A Denison player has been selected as the NCAC Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year or Newcomer of the Year award winner in eight out of nine seasons.
At Denison, athletics are a valued part of the college experience. Programs have the financial support of the institution to travel and play the best small colleges in the nation.
From traveling abroad to the prestige of national recognition, Big Red soccer is a unique, enriching experience. Success for the Big Red is demonstrated in the classroom as the team maintained a 3.4 GPA in 2006. Denison University women’s soccer athletes have the best of both worlds: competitive athletics without compromising their education.
Athletic facilities at Denison are second to none. The Barclay-Thomsen game field is a stadium style complex with lights. The field measures 120 by 78 yards and is a natural grass surface. Women’s soccer also has its own practice field.
